Members: There are five of us: Joakim (guitar - mostly lead), William (guitar), Björn (bass), David (drums) and me, Samuel (also called woody, vocals). Before Joakim joined in 2009 we had another guitarist named Nikolai - born in Russia actually. He left before we became really active, but his lasting contribution was that he wrote one last dance. Here is the whole story (but please use or ignore as much of this as you want… It’s very long): I wanted to start a band in 2007, and I found some people at my school who might be interested (Nikolai and David), and introduced them to my other friend William. Nikolai was friends with Björn from before, so we had some people. We played some covers (deftones, Norma Jean) and then started writing. None of us really knew what we wanted to play, so it took us a bit of time to get some music together. I wrote some songs (in the early days I was listening to a lot of 36 crazyfists, enter Shikari and Norma Jean) but was also just learning to write music - some of the earliest songs that we ended up keeping were Mewgte and Harridan. I wrote the songs and lyrics for both albums, apart from One Last Dance which Nikolai wrote right before he quit in 2009. I knew Joakim a little through a mutual friend and heard he was a great guitarist, so he joined us. Around 2009/2010 was when we were doing the most shows. 101010 came out in October 2010 and was a collection of songs from about two years of writing, and some of the songs had already been recorded once before (harridan, I want the press to know this, mewgte and one last dance all exist in two separate versions). 101010 was recorded in 9 days, and the title track 101010 and the grindcore bonus track were both improvised and recorded live. It was released in October 2010 on CD and digitally. We played live a bunch but never did an official tour for the album. We kept writing and playing for a while and did a badly organized UK tour in 2012. Things were kind of slowing down, and then Joakim moved away for a while in 2013, so we decided to do a farewell mini-tour of Sweden and put out an EP to say goodbye. It took us three years to finish Liner Notes, mostly because we weren’t playing live anymore at that point and it was harder to find the time. Liner Notes was really important to us, it’s maybe more in line with the type of music we enjoy to listen to these days so it was great to get to do that. Also, a lot of that album deals with the end of the band (lyrically) and the title is a reference to it being the last thing - like how you can read the liner notes on a record to find out more about what went into making it - it was kind of meta. Especially the last song on the EP is about the band being over. Since that release we’ve hung out as friends and stuff, but we haven’t released or written anything. Other projects we have going on: Three of us - out guitarist Jocke, out bassist Björn and our vocalist, Samuel - went on to start the crust/punk band Kråkstad (krakstad.bandcamp.com) and the doom band Signal (signaldoom.bandcamp.com). Our drummer David now plays in the rock band Aldrovanda (aldrovanda.bandcamp.com). Our vocalist Samuel also plays drums in a band called Panhandler (panhandlermusic.bandcamp.com). >>> Do you have any live performances? I didn't find any on youtube. Yeah! There’s some on youtube, if you search for this is not a game of who the fuck are you live you’ll find it. It’s been a really long time since then though, and none of it was professionally filmed or anything. Here’s one if you can deal with the (maybe) cringey beginning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QFg40bT1FE >>> Should we expect another release from TINAGOWTFAY this or next year? We haven’t written anything new. But 101010 has been out for ten years this year, and wee’ve been playing around with the idea of doing something to commemorate the anniversary… We’ll see what happens. >>> Are you aware that TINAGOWTFAY was fairly popular in Russia among metalcore lovers? I had no idea about this, but it makes me so, so happy and grateful to hear that. I’m so sad we never got the chance to play abroad that much with this band, but if we did get the chance I would love to come to russia and play some shows. The bands I know who have played there have only had good things to say about the shows. >>> Anything else we want to deliver to the air? Just thank you, to you for caring enough to ask us these things and to anyone who enjoys the stuff we did. Again, thank you for including us in your show! It would be amazing if you wanted to send us a link to the audio once it's up so maybe we can link to it as well. If there's anything else you're wondering just ask and I'll get back to you when I wake up. /Samuel
